She then returned to Finland as a senior research fellow at the Academy of Finland in Helsinki. Magareta was the Professor of the Archaeology of the Roman Empire at Oxford, a post held previously by Ian Richmond and Shepherd Frere, and a fellow at All Souls College from 1994-2004.
